Recently we were contacted to replace an indoor evaporator coil, upon inspection it was determined that there was mold growth within the coil.  This is common when there is lack of preventative maintenance services and unfortunately, can go undetected for quite some time or until you start experiencing health issues and/or system failures.  Because you can’t see the evaporator coil on your indoor unit, there’s no way for you to know when it needs to be cleaned. While you can’t see it, mold could be growing on this coil, hampering your air conditioner, and introducing mold spores into your air.  This is a great example of why you should have one of our professionals come out semi annually to examine your air conditioning and heating equipment.  During a preventative maintenance appointment all components are inspected and cleaned thoroughly to prevent issues such as this.

Dirty coils are not good for the health of your family or your unit. A dirty or clogged coil makes your air conditioner work harder to get the job done. This results in higher energy bills, more frequent breakdowns, and a shorter lifespan for your unit.

Besides the trouble it causes mechanically, a dirty coil could expose your family to harmful mold and dust buildup. Your air conditioner blows air into every room in your home – air that has passed over a dirty coil!  If anyone in your family is experiencing asthma or flu-like symptoms, fatigue, or allergy symptoms, it could be caused by mold in your air conditioner or ductwork.
