If you have recently begun working out at a CrossFit gym, you have most likely fallen in love with this unique style of training. CrossFit provides one of the best all-around workouts, improving everything from speed and agility to power and mobility. To keep up with the intensity of every CrossFit workout, you need to fuel your body correctly by eating enough of the right foods.

Some of our trainers will recommend different diets, including Paleo, to improve athletic performance. Even without a special eating plan, however, there are certain foods you should be incorporating into your diet. Continue reading below to learn more about the foods every CrossFit athlete should be eating:

  • Eggs: Eggs are a staple food for any athlete, especially those who practice CrossFit. Eggs are an inexpensive source of complete protein, B vitamins, and omega-3s. They will help to keep you full, build lean muscle, and power through any workout.
  • crossfitSweet Potatoes: You have to make sure you’re taking in enough complex carbohydrates to provide you with the energy you need for every CrossFit class. Sweet potatoes are the perfect food to do just that. Rich in vitamins A & C, these root vegetables are an excellent source of fuel before each workout, and they can help you replenish glucose stores if they’re eaten after each workout too.
  • Avocado: You should make a point to add foods high in fat, such as avocado, to your diet. The healthy fats packed into each avocado are a great source of fuel and omega-3s. Avocados are also rich in fiber, vitamins, and can help to lower cholesterol.
  • Salmon: Another high-fat food that will help you to Rx every WOD is salmon. Wild salmon is rich in protein and healthy fats and is also a great source of omega-3s. Omega-3s have strong anti-inflammatory properties, which help athletes to recover after even the hardest workouts.
  • Non-Starchy Vegetables: Non-starchy vegetables such as cauliflower, broccoli, spinach, and kale are important for every athlete. These foods are low in calories but rich in nutrition. Add some to every meal for a noticeable improvement in your performance.
