Graduation Gift Guide!

Graduation is a time wrought with both feelings of immense happiness and those of sorrow. Torn between the pain of growing up and their desire to spread their wings, this time in a graduate’s life is unique and special – a time which ought to be commemorated. Thus, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and even cousins scramble to find the perfect gift that will aptly capture the monumental nature of this season in a young person’s life. This can be a challenging task because choosing a gift to match the significance of the new chapter which graduation initiates can be quite intimidating.

With graduation on the horizon, we at Wade’s Jewelers are extending our guiding hand to aid you in choosing the most fitting gift for your special graduates!

Questions:

#1: What pieces do you think are best fit to commemorate a graduate’s success?
I would say big, exciting, and memorable pieces, because that is what a graduation is! Graduation is all of those things, so get a piece of jewelry that represents that. Something like a big ring, even if they only wear it on special occasions, is still a special reminder of what they accomplished. Or perhaps something like diamond studs or a diamond necklace. I think something big and chunky that you wouldn’t necessarily wear every day. I also think charm bracelets will be a big success – I don’t think those will ever go out of style. The more current thing to do would be a big toggle charm bracelet, adding either the crest of the school or a big engraved disc to go on it as a symbolic reminder. And then pearls – pearls are really classic and sweet and there are a lot of new ways to amp up pearls and make them really special and trendy but also keep the tradition of keeping pearls kind of sacred and sentimental.

#2: Why do you think that?

Truly, that is just what comes to my mind when I think about graduation. Also, I just graduated from college in December so I am not far removed from that experience!  I know what would be sentimental and special to me.

#3: What advice would you give to someone struggling to find the right gift for their graduate?

You know them. You have watched them go through this process – celebrate with them. Give them a gift that makes them feel celebrated, that makes this feel monumental – whatever that means for you. Give a gift that you are excited for them to wear, excited for them to enjoy, because that makes it special and makes it celebratory.

#1: What pieces do you think are best fit to commemorate a graduate’s success?

Traditionally, we sell a lot of watches. I also always think of diamond earrings for a young lady – that is always nice.

#2: Why do you think that?

I think we sell so many watches because you can engrave them. As far as diamond earrings, they simply never go out of style – they can be worn forever.

#3: What advice would you give to someone struggling to find the right gift for their graduate?

I would tell people to try to get something that the person can use and not something that they are going to get that is just going to be put away in a drawer. Try to get something that is a functional gift.

Michelle:

#1: What pieces do you think are best fit to commemorate a graduate’s success?

For young ladies, I would choose pearl earrings, a pearl necklace, or single diamond necklace. Or perhaps a pair of diamond stud earrings or a watch. For young men, I would say a gold or silver signet ring or a nice watch.

#2: Why do you think that?

These pieces are timeless. Like a pair of basic black pants, these pieces will always wear well – they are classics.

#3: What advice would you give to someone struggling to find the right gift for their graduate?

Wherever you choose to shop, I would recommend beginning by finding an expert to help you, and detailing the characteristics and personality of your graduate to them. You would be surprised how much this helps! This will allow them to better guide you to pieces that fit your personal situation, making your experience much more pleasant, as well as ensuring that your purchase is fitting for your special graduate and their momentous achievement!
