Are you looking for a concrete company for repairs or a home improvement project? The right contractor will provide the products, knowledge, and experience to complete your project efficiently. Unfortunately, not all concrete companies are created equal, and you may have to do a bit of shopping around to find the right one. To help you narrow down the options, here are five questions you should ask before hiring a concrete contractor.

5 Questions to Ask Before Hiring a Concrete Contractor

Do You Offer a Warranty?

A licensed contractor should be able to offer at least a one-year warranty should anything go wrong with your project after completion. When you talk to contractors, ask them about their warranty and for the specific details and conditions on what the warranty covers.

Will the Concrete Be Reinforced?

concreteNot every project requires reinforced concrete, but if your concrete will be in a heavily trafficked area or needs to withstand a lot of weight, it should be reinforced. Ask potential contractors about the ratio of ingredients in their ready-mix concrete products and if they have reinforced concrete.

How Long Will It Take?

While you don't want to rush the job, you also shouldn't have to deal with construction for weeks on end. A typical concrete project like a driveway or sidewalk should only take two to three days. If a contractor quotes you at a longer timeframe, you may want to keep looking.

Do You Have Samples You Can Show Me?

Most businesses have websites where you are able to see their previous work. If a contractor's website is not updated, however, ask if they have a portfolio or lookbook you can browse.

When Can You Start?

Again, you don't want to rush the project, but you also probably don’t want to wait for months to break ground. If a concrete company has a wide open calendar, it's a good sign they aren't in demand and you may want to consider another contractor.

Feel free to talk to multiple companies before you make your final decision. You want your project to be done right so make sure you find a company you're comfortable with.
