Summer is just around the corner, and for some people, that is all the excuse they need to hop on their motorcycle and enjoy 650ccs of raw, hurtling power. Beechmont Motorsport, a top motorcycle repair and service in Cincinnati, OH, understands this urge and offers some valuable tips to get ready for riding season.

4 Important Tips to Get Your Motorcycle Ready for Riding Season

Inspect the Drive Belt or Chain

Whether your bike has a drive belt or chain, you cannot ride if it is faulty. If you have a drive chain, inspect it for damaged teeth. If you have a drive belt, make certain it is not cracked or torn. No matter which part you have, adjust it to the appropriate tension, as well.

Test the Brakes

A motorcycle's brakes are perhaps its most important system. Given its speed, small size, and low visibility profile, a bike is liable to being cut off by other motorists, so it needs to be able to stop on a dime. Check the brake line for leaks or cracks, and top off the brake fluid levels. Test both front and back systems, and schedule motorcycle repair and service immediately if you notice weaknesses.

Check the Tires

Motorcycle Repair & ServiceCheck the tire pressure using an accurate gauge. Winter temperatures can deflate your wheels, meaning your bike could be hard to handle and steer. This can also damage the treads, meaning your tires will wear down sooner.

Turn on the Lights

Test all your lights, including the headlight high beams and blinkers, before taking your motorcycle out on the year's first ride. Inspect all light casings for cracks, and make sure the bulbs don't need to be replaced.
