The original Shilawon Korean Restaurant occupied the same space in Honolulu. When the former owner decided to sell the business after 10 years, the head chef, Jae Keun Lee took over. Today, the restaurant is run by Chef Lee and his family. His wife is responsible for making the banchan, and his daughter is the general manager.

The new ownership has elevated the restaurant. With fresh meat cut to order and over 40 traditional Korean dishes to choose from, the chef and his family have tried to bring the best of Korean food to the local Hawaiian community.

What Is “New” at New Shilawon?

The original Shilawon Korean Restaurant was BYOB, but the new restaurant has a selection of beer and Korean wines including, raspberry wine and rice wine. This new drink menu is the perfect complement to traditional Korean food and makes your dinner a truly authentic meal.  

What Are the Weekly Specials?

The restaurant offers weekly specials to keep their regulars happy and to highlight their traditional dishes. Served with banchan, these specials are the perfect place to start sampling the menu options. Monday’s special is barbecue chicken, Tuesday serves up spicy pork, Wednesday warms you up with Kalbi soup, and tilefish is offered on Thursdays. The Friday, Saturday and Sunday specials consist of Brisket Miso Stew, Cold Noodles, and Spicy Beef Noodles.
