When visiting an auto show, few things are more entertaining than checking out the influential models of yesteryear. After all, many of these vehicles helped shape the automotive industry as we know it today! As the team at the Charlotte AutoFair Produced by Hornets Nest Region, AACA in Charlotte, NC, explains, few models have had a bigger influence than the Ford Model A.

Here are some fun facts about these antique cars that you can see at this vintage auto show:

  • The Stamp of Approval: The Ford Model A was introduced in 1927, and company owner Henry Ford wasn’t about to miss out on the action! Henry Ford stamped the first engine for the Ford Model A personally with an “A1.” He then tested the engine in a vehicle he drove himself before giving the final approval to put the vehicle into production for the market as a whole.
  • auto showSinging Praises: The Ford Model A was such a hit after it was first released that it was even featured in popular songs of the time—like “Henry’s Made a Lady Out of Lizzie,” which was released in 1928 (shortly after the vehicle first hit the roads).
  • Millions: Despite only staying in production for four years (the Great Depression brought an early end to the Ford Model A), the vehicle proved to be a huge hit, selling millions. In fact, the 20-millionth Ford vehicle to be sold was a Ford Model A. Because of its huge popularity at the time, it’s little surprise that you can often find several varieties of the Ford Model A at auto shows today.

For a truly one of a kind auto show that the whole family will love, be sure to check out the Charlotte AutoFair. To learn more about this event, visit them online or call (704) 841-1990.
