Unless you attend beauty school full time, you might not know about the latest trends in makeup. With a little research and a few new products, you can adopt a hip new look at any age. These three makeup trends are on the rise in 2017—and they’re easy to incorporate into your beauty routine.

The No-Makeup Look

Past trends like contouring and highlighting helped everyone achieve a celebrity look, but this year, less is more. This year’s fashion shows were filled with fresh-faced girls in minimal makeup. To try the no-makeup look at home, focus on covering blemishes with a light BB or CC cream. Use a subtle blush for a healthy, natural glow, and finish the look with a single coat of mascara.

Metallic Finishes

beauty school Boston MASometimes, a little sparkle is just what the cosmetologist ordered. Metallic formulas are showing up in eyeliners, eye shadows, and lipsticks. For a subtle take on this bold trend, add a touch of silver, gold, or copper lipstick to the center of your mouth instead of covering each lip. Add a little sparkle to your eyes choosing a metallic shadow instead of a matte formula. Dress up your eye makeup even more with a simple beauty school trick: Layer a glimmering eyeliner over your normal black, brown, or navy pencil. The light will reflect off of the metallic shades, giving your look dimension without being overwhelming.

Glossy Lips

If you purchased lipstick in 2016, you might have noticed that matte formulas were all the rage. However, 2017 marks the return of glossy, irresistible lips. In addition to giving your smile a little sheen, lip gloss also tends to be more moisturizing than matte formulas, leaving your lips healthier in the long run. For glossy lips that look natural, look for a formula without a lot of pigment or sparkle.
