Summer is here, and now is the time to look at your windows, doors, and screens. Do your windows work or do they need some type of repair? Maybe they just require a little TLC in the form of lubrication with a good silicone spray—no grease or oil. Maybe there’s a broken piece that needs to be replaced. Bring in a sample of what you need so we can help you find the right solution.

How are your doors? Does the weatherstrip show wear or compression? Is the door bottom or sweep closing the gap between the door and threshold or can you see light and feel a draft? Your front door is what people see, so maybe a fresh coat of paint or stain is needed. Maybe a whole new entry system is needed.

Window RepairWhen looking at your doors, don’t forget to check the storm doors and patio doors. Have you ever lubricated the hinges or tracks? If not, clean the tracks, clean around the hinges, and lubricate them with a silicone spray, not oil or grease. Check to see if the weatherstrip is compressed, or perhaps the dog ate part of it. What kind of shape is the hardware in? Does it all work or is a part broken that you have been putting up with? Maybe painting the hardware is needed, or, if you have solid brass hardware, an hour with a polishing compound will give that hardware a new look.

What kind of condition are your screens in? Do you have all of your screens or are you missing one or two? Are the frames in the track or are corners broken and rails bent? What kind of shape is the wire in? Do you have a special need requiring pet screen or solar screening?

With the weather warming, these are all things that can and should be checked. All of the items listed will save you money or make your life a little better.
