You visit Pearlridge Center in Aiea, HI, for the shopping and dining experience, but did you know that they offer fantastic family events, as well? This shopping center works with different groups in the community to bring culturally enriching experiences that the whole family can enjoy. From May 5th, 2017 through May 7th, 2017, Pearlridge Center is teaming up with the Mokichi Okada Association (MOA) to host the 29th Annual MOA Children’s Art Celebration, Display, and Exhibit.

The MOA Children’s Art Celebration, Display, and Exhibit is also known as “Beauty Through the Eyes of Our Children.” During this family event, the artwork of dozens of children will be placed on display for the entire weekend. Families will be able to go and view the work of their children or join their kids as they show their support for friends whose artwork is on display. While all children who have worked with MOA on this project will see their artwork showcased over the weekend, an awards ceremony will be held on Saturday to honor the brightest from this program.

Saturday’s award ceremony will also be accompanied by hands-on creative experiences such as learning ikebana flower arranging. Ikebana flower arranging is an art form that aims to bring humans closer to nature by treating the plants and flowers that are used as living things.

The MOA Children’s Art Celebration, Display, and Exhibit is open to the public and free of charge. Whether you are an art enthusiast or you love Japanese culture, this family event is for you. The awards ceremony and flower arranging class will take place on Saturday, May 6th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., but the artwork will be on display all weekend long during regular mall hours.
