I just checked my calendar and it’s truly April, Spring is here and the weather is starting to warm up – quickly.  Again, as I looked at my calendar, it’s April of 2017!  Where has the time gone?  The 1st quarter of the year is behind us.  The Bomber Crew has accomplished so much in just a short time.  I love to look back and recap all the excitement we’ve had and look forward to what’s ahead.

January started out with a bang, we annexed the adjacent space and opened up a new expansion for the Bombers Barbell Club.  We set up the additional 2000 sq/ft as a weightlifting training hall, complete with platforms, squat racks, jerk blocks, and plenty of fancy weights and bars.  That additional space has opened up so much more room on the main floor, especially during our busiest class times.  Not only has the BBC seen huge gains, but there are so many of you able to put in a little extra work now with the additional space and equipment.

Also in January, Coach Mona and Coach Adam held a Nutrition Seminar.  They took a Saturday and explained the finer points of how to implement proper nutrition into your daily life.  The main topics were Paleo and Zone based focusing on meal planning, prepping, and how to maintain this as a daily change.  Also part of the seminar, Coach Lillie explained our Paleo Challenge.  We had a large number of the Bomber Crew participate and see tremendous results.

As the Paleo Challenge continued into February the Crew continued to grow and challenge each other.  The CrossFit Games Open was right around the corner, and in preparation many of you teamed up and competed at CrossFit Excess in the My Bloody Valentine III Competition.  We had a staggering amount of teams in both the scaled and Rx divisions.  What was even more fun was the support from the Bomber Crew to show up and cheer on the competitors.

Then as February drew to a close, the Open was upon us.  The Paleo Challenge wrapped up just as we drove into the Open.  The Friday Night Throwdowns were so much fun.   As we all grumbled and complained about the WOD announcements and were nervous, excited, and terrified by what we’d have to do we saw so many great things accomplished by the Crew.  Many of you were pushed out of your comfort zone, I saw a great deal of Firsts, including pull-ups, muscle ups, and Rx weights.   Each Friday night the crew had a great time celebrating together.  We were able to laugh and share and blow off some steam from the week, along with eating some “not-so-Paleo” treats.

Like most every quarter, especially in a Military community, we had to say good-bye to many of our friends.  However we also had the opportunity to say hello and meet a tremendous amount of new friends.  With all the changes and new faces it is exciting every time I walk into the gym.  The Bomber Crew continues to surprise me with the amazing things you are all doing both inside and outside the gym.  I know there are great things on the horizon and I can’t wait to see what the rest of 2017 brings.
