A Honolulu Moving Company Offers 3 Tips For Moving Your Pet To Hawaii, Ewa, Hawaii

Hawaii offers a long list of perks to new residents, including the allure of the sand and surf, laid-back atmosphere, and the fact that it’s the only state in America to be certified rabies-free. Because of this, Hawaii practices careful quarantine laws and inspections before pets are allowed into the state, which is why M. Dyer & Sons recommends planning your move carefully before you start packing boxes.

Here, a top Honolulu moving company shares three tips for moving your pet to Hawaii:

Consider the Breed

You may love your exotic animal, but Hawaii regulations strictly prohibit the import of non-domestic breeds of pets. Banned breeds include dingo, savannah, wolf, serval, bobcat and chausie, to name a few. Because pregnant animals can introduce potentially dangerous breeds into the wild, pregnant pets past 40 days gestation cannot enter the state until they’ve given birth.

Schedule A Health Screening

It’s important to schedule Honolulu moving companya health screening for your animal before calling your Honolulu moving company and starting the relocation process. Older pets or animals who suffer from chronic illnesses may not travel well, which means your pet might be better off staying with a friend or family member.

Start Preparing 6 Months In Advance

If your animal is healthy enough to travel, start preparing them for the journey at least six months in advance. Your pet will need to be microchipped, screened for rabies, and endure the mandatory 120-day at-home waiting period to ensure they aren’t a carrier for any illnesses. If you fly to Hawaii without making these preparations, your pet may be quarantined for a minimum of 120 days at a state-approved kennel facility at your cost.
