If building muscle mass is your goal, it takes hard work and dedication. Strong is not only “in,” but it also helps you gain confidence and improved performance in everyday life. Hitting the gym for regular endurance training is the key to successful results, and here’s what you should be doing while you’re there.

Follow these tips for improved muscle mass:

  • Focus on the Main Moves: If you’re trying to bulk up, there are four main moves you should focus on. While they might seem basic at first, each move has an effect on the amount of muscle mass you can build. Squats are one of these key moves, but the other three are pure weightlifting: make sure you regularly do bench presses, overhead presses, and deadlifts. Since all of these moves target multiple muscle groups, they’re the key to quality endurance training.
  • Be Conscious of Equipment: While the right moves are invaluable, equipment is equally important. Weightlifting equipment varies, so keep an eye out for those that build muscle mass best. Free weights take more effort than machines, building greater strength and endurance levels over time. Barbells are absolutely necessary, and you’ll need a power rack with a wide range of weights. A power rack allows you to try your hand at different weights while you work your way up. Combining all of these while you do your workouts at the gym will help you bulk up in a healthy way.
  • gymKeep Cardio to a Minimum: If you’re aiming for muscle mass, endurance training should be your priority. That requires a lot of weightlifting and reps, but far less cardio. While you should still incorporate cardio into your workout, aiming for lots of miles isn’t necessary. Once you build muscles, you’ll need to preserve them, which means simple sprints or interval walks rather than long-distance running. Most experts advise aiming for a simpler version of cardio that will keep your muscles in solid shape.
