When it comes to window fashions, many people use the words curtains and draperies synonymously. However, there are a few typical differences between curtains and draperies. At Kreative Kama'aina Enterprises, based in Honolulu, Hawaii, the experts in the fabrication of curtains and draperies will be glad to assist in the selection process.

Curtains
Curtains are usually casual, informal window treatments and are drawn by hand. They are commonly found in kitchens, bathrooms, and occasionally over door windows. Curtains are not typically used for the purpose of blocking light and sound. Curtains tend to be shirred onto rods with rod pockets or hung by simple headings like tabs. Curtains come in different lengths, usually to the sill or apron of a window or down to the floor and are usually unlined and may be hand-drawn. See the displays in our Kreative Kama'aina showroom.

Draperies
Draperies are considered more formal; usually lined and frequently pleated in the heading. They are often attached to rods with the use of hooks and can be hand-drawn or traverse with a cord or baton manually or motorized. Drapes effectively serve the purpose of blocking out light and some sound from windows and are most often hung from drapery hardware to the floor.
