Feeling stressed and wanting to eat? Mood-triggered eating can result in poor nutrition choices.  Bottom line this behavior can lead to excess calories and unwanted weight gain. So what can help?

  1. Give yourself permission for a “time-out”.  Step away from the difficult time you may be going through. Take 5 to read a few pages from a great book, take a bubble bath, turn up the music, or take a drive.
  2. Turn your thoughts positively towards exercise.  Take a brisk walk, head to the gym, or put on a fitness DVD to sidetrack your thoughts and cravings.
  3. Try positive self-talk. Forget what’s wrong, focus on what two things are feeling right.  Talk aloud, or call a friend who supports your journey.
  4. Get professional help if you need it.
