Since we opened the doors to The Office Lounge in June 2008, we have not only expanded the bars square footage, but the number of pool tables as well.  For those of you who did not know, we only had room for 2 pool tables.  Over the years, as we expanded, the demand for good pool tables became a priority.  The bar now has 7 Valley pool tables, clothed with quality Simonis, for your playing pleasure.

We take pride in providing a clean atmosphere for our patrons. This includes our tables. We understand the game of pool very well.  It’s crucial to any person, whether your playing for fun or on a pool league, to have a table that “rolls” good.   Not only are the tables cleaned weekly, but each table is refinished with new Simonis cloth once a year.

What does it take to keep a table performing at its best?  Here’s a little 101 in pool etiquette.

  1. Refrain from sitting on the rails, as this will cause them to warp into “dead rails”.  Good rails are crucial for an accurate bank or kick shot.
  2. Keep all beverages off the pool tables and out of the pockets. The pocket seems like a cozy place to set your glass, but spilled drinks harm the felt and its integrity.  While it is possible to gently clean the fabric, its best to try and avoid this if at all possible.
  3. Do not play with a burning cigarette in your mouth.  Ashes may fall from it and burn holes into the material.
  4. Are your hands a little clammy? While chalk is provided, refrain from coating them in a white layer.   A little chalk goes a long way. If you have too much chalk on your hands, it ends up on the balls and the tables, causing build up, and effects the cloth.  Try washing your hands with lots of soap and cold water to remove any excess oils on your hands.  If you play more then the average person, wear a glove.  Not only will it help with your pool stroke, but will prolong the life of the felt and prevent a chalky film build up on the cues. The end result is a more consistent shot and better pool game.

The Office Lounge is a proud host location for APA, the largest amateur pool league in the nation.  Are you interested in joining a team?  You have your choice of three nights, Sunday 9 ball, Monday 8 ball, or Thursday 8 ball.  Contact the league operators, April and Dan Shepard, Sunday through Thursday at 251-219-8902.

We love our pool teams and our pool players.  We offer free pool every Friday after 12 noon, and all day Saturday.  Come on out and enjoy a few games with your friends and family.
