The 10th Annual Vendy Awards, or the "Oscars of Street Food," took place last month on Governors Island to recognize the top food trucks in NYC. Shanghai Mobile Kitchen Solutionshad the honor of building six of the trucks participating in the event, and they're very proud to say that three of their past clients came home winners! Shanghai Mobile Kitchen Solutions knows that a well-designed and equipped kitchen is the lifeblood of any food truck, and they are ecstatic to have been kitchen designers for New York's top mobile food vendors.

Congratulations to all the participants, and an extra "Way to go!" to the following winners:

Snowday Food Truck

Winner of the "Rookie of the Year" award, the Snowday food truck can be seen all over NYC, from Brooklyn and Manhattan to Governors Island. Their specialty: French Canadian-inspired food with maple syrup. They even have a maple syrup grilled cheese! What makes these guys extra special is that they're operated by Drive Change, and they're the first food truck social enterprise that hires, teaches and empowers young people coming home from prison. Snowday not only offers up delicious food, but they also provide opportunities to those who need them!

Calexico

Winner of the Master Cup, Calexico has a real full-circle story. These guys were inspired to start their own food cart after attending the first-ever Vendy Awards in 2005. They won the prestigious Vendy Cup in 2008 with their unique Mexican/Southern BBQ-inspired eats. Calexico went from one food cart to many, and now they have restaurants all over NYC! They've even been named "Best Mexican" by Zagat.

Cinnamon Snail

Winner of the Vendy Awards’ top honor, Cinnamon Snail, took home the year’s Vendy Cup. You won't find more innovative, organic, and vegan street food anywhere else. Adam Sobel, the chef behind this cool food truck, is no stranger to his share of awards; in 2011, he won the Maker's Mark challenge with his bourbon creme brûlée donuts. It makes sense that for the Vendy Cup, Cinnamon Snail even beat out well known TV chef Adam Richman!
