While loading your kids in the car before school or after running errands, do you ever stop to think about whether or not the car seat equipment is secured correctly? The professionals at Kona Community Hospital know nearly 73% of child restraints are installed incorrectly, which is why they are hosting a free safety checkup event on Saturday, Jan. 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For years, the hospital has provided people in West Hawaii with a wide range of medical services, as well as ensuring the community is knowledgeable with an array of advice on issues of health and safety.

hospital The professionals at this local hospital want you and your children to remain safe on the road. When properly installed and maintained, safety seats can reduce infant deaths by 71% and toddler deaths by 54%. At the hospital’s free safety event, you will learn how to properly secure your kids’ rear-facing, forward-facing, and booster equipment. You’ll also learn how to make sure seat belts are secure and comfortable for older children as well. You’re encouraged to bring the family car to the event, as a certified child passenger technician will be on-site to check your kids’ safety restraints.

This free learning opportunity will be held at the Kealakekua Ranch Center located below Choicemart. If you have any questions, you can reach out to Sandy Tomiyama at (808) 887-8116 or Judy Donovan at (808) 322-6960.
