Fashion is an art form. After all, the Ann Wintour Costume Center at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York is one of that institution’s most popular attractions. It’s also a skilled craft. Those couture confections parading down the runways of Paris have to be hand sewn by someone. Behind the flashbulbs going off in tents during Fashion Week, there is a serious business. An important tool of the trade is the lookbook, which creates beautiful collections. Bestype Imaging in Tribeca specializes in lookbook printing for some of New York’s top fashion designers, including Zac Posen and Alexander Wang, as well as many indie designers who shy away from the tents.

Fashion doesn’t just happen at Lincoln Center. Here are some of the more unusual locations where these fashion mavericks have strutted their stuff:

  • Orchard Street: Each year the LES Fashion Show turns an entire block of this Lower East Side into a fashion runway. Part art installation, part marketing event for young designers, and part block party, it has a distinct neighborhood vibe without guest lists, security checks, and diva tantrums.
  • Grand Central Station: In 2011 Moncler Grenoble staged a flash mob at this Beux Art landmark during rush hour. More than a hundred dancers staged a surprise performance/showing for commuters. Not a typical day on Metro North.
  • New York Public Library: Avant-garde designer Tom Browne has presented several fashion collections at one of the most beautiful buildings in Manhattan. For one shoot, his models sat motionless around a long banquet table like frozen dinner party guests, while for another they were posed in coffins!

While locations may change, high quality prints never go out of style. That’s why Bestype Imaging offers same day printing, as well as rush printing, so your lookbook will be as up-to-date as your imagination. Get all your printing done by the best staff in New York City. Call today at (212) 966-6886 or send them an email at imaging@bestype.net for an estimate.
