Humans naturally want to be around each other. But in order to thrive in a group setting, you have to develop your ability to communicate, play, and cooperate at a young age. FasTracKids is here to provide ideas for preschool activities to build social skills in youngsters. With enrichment programs in Brooklyn and New York City, they offer math and reading help, summer camp, and test prep in a supportive environment.

Here are three preschool activities to improve social development:preschool activities

  • Yarn Maze: This preschool activity helps build listening and communication skills. Use a big ball of yarn to make an outline of a maze on the floor. Then, group children into pairs. One partner will close their eyes while the other verbally explains how to walk the maze. Then, switch sides!
  • Simon Says: There’s a reason this game has been a classic preschool activity for decades—it teaches children how to listen, follow instructions, and behave in a social setting. Choose one child to be the leader (“Simon”), while the others stand in line. The leader then gives commands, such as, “Simon says pat your head.” The other children should perform the action only if it comes after the phrase “Simon says.”
  • Memory Drawing: Some of the most important social skills preschoolers should learn are storytelling and listening. Pair children up and have one partner share a story about something they remember, like a family vacation. The other child should then draw a scene from the story and explain to the first partner what they created.

FasTracKids helps children develop a love of learning from an early age. To learn more about preschool activities in Manhattan and Brooklyn, call (718) 260-8100. You can also like them on Facebook.
