As you may already be aware, many companies will be shutting down their 2G networks in 2017.
For example, providers such as AT&T took all of their 2G devices “Off Air” on January 1.
What does this mean? Well, it means there will be a costly transition to a new solution and it puts tens of thousands of customers into a tough situation. Devices will need to be replaced in less than three years.
Who is effected? Private Citizens as well as businesses that currently use 2G. There may be other providers that will enable you to keep your current system for the short term. Be sure to check with your provider to see how you are effected.
If you are using Vehicle Tracking for your fleet, there is a chance you could experience outages in 2G areas.
Best advice is to review your 2G plan with your provider and see what measures you can take to create a 2G retirement plan.
