Finding the right dentist for your child or infant can be a difficult task. Because going to any doctor can be scary and uncomfortable for your young ones, it is important to find a practitioner who is sensitive, efficient, and can easily develop a good rapport with your child. With over 25 years of experience serving children with their pediatric dental care in Hawaii, the dentists at Pedodontic Associates Inc will deliver the best in oral to your kids.

When dealing with children’s dental health, it is important to remember some facts when coming in for a visit:

  • What you can expect from your first visit. On your first visit, you will receive information about the cavity process, and how to properly prevent them. Because children below the age of three-and-a-half are not quite ready for a standard dental chair tooth cleaning, your doctor may do an alternative “knee to knee” exam for a quick look at your child’s teeth.
  • Baby teeth are temporary, but important. Baby teeth, or “primary teeth,” need to be properly maintained until they fall out naturally. Parents should bear in mind that the last baby teeth do not fall out until a child reaches as old as 13 years. If these teeth are poorly maintained, or come out prematurely, they can negatively impact alignment or health of incoming adult teeth.
  • If your child loses a tooth prematurely. When a child has an accident causing them to lose or damage a baby tooth, it is important to make sure that it is attended to properly. Unlike adult teeth, they cannot be re-implanted, and need to be observed for nerve damage or infection. You may also apply ice or mild painkillers like ibuprofen to the affected area.

Make sure your child’s teeth are taken care of in an environment where the dentists are experienced, and the family dentistry is at its best.
