What's Included in a Tuneup? How Often Should You Get One?, Osceola, Wisconsin

When it comes to your car, regular tuneups is the best way to ensure your vehicle remains in good condition for many years. Jones Automotive is an auto repair and maintenance shop in Dresser, WI, and they encourage all drivers to follow their car manufacturer’s recommended maintenance schedule to keep their cars running longer.

Although a tuneup may not seem like a priority because it includes many services that are covered during routine maintenance, a properly tuned car will run better for longer. Tuneups can even make it easier to repair your car after a collision. Here’s what you can expect to happen during a tuneup, as well as how often you should really get one.

tuneupDuring a tuneup, your mechanic will inspect the inner workings of your car. Specifically, they will examine components like the air filters, spark plugs, fuel filters, and your car’s battery. If needed, your filters and spark plugs will be changed, and fluids such as your vehicle’s oil and coolant will be refilled. During the tuneup, your mechanic will also check your car’s lights, tires, belts, and PCV valves.

How often your vehicle needs a tuneup varies by make and model. In general, you should have your car brought in every 15,000 to 30,000 miles; however, many newer cars can hold out until the 30,000-mile mark. As technology has improved, many routine changes in a tuneup will not need to be serviced until even later. For instance, spark plugs needed to be changed every 30,000 miles, but today’s newer models won’t need this change until 80,000 miles. And although certain car parts are now obsolete, like the carburetor, auto technicians still recommend routine tuneups to avoid future issues.

Tuneups are typically inexpensive, and they are a great way for your mechanic to identify and correct any issues that could cause you trouble down the line.

If you would like to schedule a tuneup for your vehicle, or if you are in need of other services, including a wheel alignment and brake check, call (888) 571-8829 or visit the Jones Automotive website today.
