The L. Suzio York Hill Companies of Meriden, CT, have been the material supply source of choice for south central Connecticut since 1898, and they've played a major role in countless amazing projects along the way. Today's highlight take us back to 2009, when S&F Concrete of Massachusetts and Epifano Builders of Stratford Connecticut called upon them to provide materials for a renovation and addition to Yale's vaunted David S. Ingalls Rink, also known as The Whale.

Largely considered to be one of the most distinctive skating rinks in all of college hockey, the Ingalls Rink has previously been graced with praises such as The New York Times' Best Design award. With their expertise in supplying ready-mix concrete products, crushed stone, and other essential elements, The L. Suzio York Hill Companies provided the materials necessary to improve conditions of the existing rink and develop a below-grade 14,000 square foot addition complete with a new locker room and training facilities.

Material Supply Thanks to expert construction and a smooth material supply process, the multi-million dollar renovation was fully complete in 2010. The overall project plan was geared to use the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) process to strive for a SILVER rating. The end result is viewed today as an iconic rink that preserves Ingalls' original architecture while significantly enhancing its capacity.

Yale's rink is a fantastic example of how integral material supply companies are to the construction process. The L. Suzio York Hill Companies pride themselves on their ability to adapt to changing needs and increasing demand for superior products and efficient delivery.
