The NFL has a solid day of football scheduled for New Year’s Day. Over the last few years they have been busy implementing upgrades to stadiums across the United States.
Most of the games this Sunday, will be played before dark, but scheduled night game at Detroit Lion’s Ford Field, will give you a glimpse into one of the stadiums that have been recently upgraded to meet the leagues green initiatives that were implemented to reduce the cost across all stadiums and reducing the impact on our environment.
Ford Fields lighting solutions were experienced by the fans for the first time this 2016 season. The project made the stadium over 14% brighter. While this is sometime a hard thing to see when you do not have something visually to compare it to, the viewers have experienced less flickering effect due to lighting while enjoying the game on TV.
According to the Detroit Free Press, the project cost somewhere around $2 million but the savings are already evident.
They also created some wonderful rooftop programmable lighting that is enjoyed by the surrounding area as well as the fans.
