Do you know what the Global Entry system is? Berd & Klauss, PLLC would like to tell you! Among New York’s best immigration lawyers, their law firm offers helpful immigration services for a range of individuals and corporate clients.

Here, Berd & Klauss discusses the Global Entry system and the requirements for entering the U.S. through this system:

  • What is the Global Entry system? A U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) program that facilitates the entry of pre-approved travelers to the U.S and allows expedited clearance for low-risk individuals. The system aims to speed the entry process for frequent international travelers who use Global System kiosks. At the kiosk, they present their passports or U.S. permanent resident cards, undergo fingerprint verification, and make a customs declaration. The kiosk issues a receipt and directs the traveler to baggage claim.
  • Who is eligible? This system is open to U.S. citizens, permanent residents, Dutch citizens, South Korean citizens, and Mexican nationals. Canadian citizens and residents can enjoy the benefits of the system by being a member of the NEXUS program.
  • What are the reasons for ineligibility? Individuals who provide false or incomplete information on the application, have been convicted of any offense or have pending criminal charges, have violated any customs, immigration, or agriculture regulations in any country, are subject of an ongoing investigation by any federal, state, or local law enforcement agency, are inadmissible under immigration regulation, or cannot satisfy CBP of their low-risk status, will be denied.
