Educational & Professional Background 

cosmetic surgeonDr. Hiranaka is a Harvard-educated dentist, physician, and surgeon who graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine in 1988. He earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School in 1990, and went on to complete a five-year residency in General Surgery and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He concluded his training with a fellowship in aesthetic facial cosmetic surgery at the Institute of Facial Surgery in Salt Lake City.

Certifications & Professional Memberships 

Dr. Hiranaka is certified by the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery and the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is also a fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, as well as a member of the American Academy of Osseointegration and the American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Innovations & Accolades

Dr. Hiranaka is credited for introducing a variety of advanced aesthetic techniques and state-of-the-art technologies to the Big Island, including CO2 laser skin resurfacing and endoscopic brow lifting. In addition, his practice introduced the Kailua area to microdermabrasion skin care and the long-pulse Nd:YAG laser for hair removal.

Other recent technologies have included non-ablative laser skin therapy, intense pulsated light (IPL) therapy for pigmented lesions, vascular laser treatments, photodynamic therapy, and infrared light treatment to tighten skin without surgery.
