Monday Morning Devotional
Once again, the topic is exactly what I needed. This Morning’s reading discussed the parable about the widow that never gave up, she just kept coming back until she was given justice. (Luke 18:1-5)
Our discussion opened up the question of how many times we are supposed to ask God for His help. He already knows the future and is already in control of everything. Do we really need to ask Him repeatedly? But in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 we are told to “never stop praying”. Does this mean God will actually consider granting any and all of our prayers based on persistence? Only if it is in His will, and we learn what that is by developing that relationship through prayer and discernment.
The reading goes on to emphasize how we are directed to go BOLDLY to God. Prayer is how we engage with Him. We go to God with specific requests, often repeatedly, with the promise that our prayers are not in vain. God answers every prayer that is lifted up to Him. Sometimes his answer is “No” or “Wait”.
How do we take this into our week? For me, this was a reminder that I need to continue to pray unceasingly, not because I want something, but because it creates a closeness to God. When I am consistently placing my requests at His feet, I learn more about Him and His will for me.
This week I am going to try to pray unceasingly. I will include you in those prayers. How about you?
Every Monday morning the LeVeck Team has a voluntary devotional to start our day.We read from from Tony Dungy’s book “Uncommon Life/Daily Challenge. We feel it is our mission work to pass on these messages.
