As winter advances in northern Michigan, it brings the snow, ice, and road salt, damaging the exterior of our vehicles. Your car, truck, or van is a significant investment in need of protection, and prevention is the key when it comes to shielding from the onset of rust.

The lower areas of our vehicles are the most susceptible to rust and body damage. When driving, the tires hurl stones and other fragments against these regions of the vehicle, causing chips in the finish. These chips create exposure, allowing water to penetrate and is subject to freezing and expanding, which causes further damage.  A method exists to prevent this problem, where the utilization of materials in truck bedliners acts as a protective barrier.

The Process

collision repairIf there is any presence of rust or chips in the existing finish, we will sand the area(s) and apply a special self-etching rust-stopping primer. The polyurea and polyurethane blended coating is applied from Arma Coatings, maker of the world’s most resilient truck bedliners.

Arma is a US-based industry leading provider of protective coatings that pioneered the heated high-pressure application process. This solution seals the bottom of the vehicle doors, as well as the rocker panels and the region below the rear wheels. These areas are coated inside and out to stop moisture. The timing for such an application is frequently done in conjunction with another collision repair or car repair.

The Material

The secret to this impenetrable material’s strength is that it can be stretched to three times its length without a tear. It has been tested to withstand 2,500-pound force per square inch, so you know it will remain tough under any conditions. In addition, it can be applied inside of other exterior body panels and throughout the vehicle undercarriage.

Appearance

Many vehicle owners will choose to use the black color, particularly those who wish to match it with their black bedliner. Other great options that compliment and contrast your finish are available. If you prefer, with our expertise in color-coding, we can exactly match it to your factory paint finish. This incredible material has a consistent, evenly finished texture, with laser straight trim lines.
