When you think energy saving projects, Lisbon Portugal is not necessarily the first thought that comes to mind.
Lisbon is Europe’s second oldest capital and is the home to the great explorer, Magellan. It was a pioneer in the world of empires and one of the first real world cities. But in it’s soulful hills and captivating vistas you will find they are traveling into the world of energy efficient solutions. Partnering with Copenhagen and other nearby cities they are developing initiatives to seek smart solutions following EU regulations and limiting their energy consumption in buildings and other facilities
One Portugal’s projects includes their famous fountain, Fonte Luminosa.
Wikipedia says: “The fountain was built to celebrate the regular supply of water to the eastern part of the city. Although originally conceived in 1938, it was inaugurated only on 30 May 1948.”
