GATESVILLE, Tex. –  Today at 12:30, Coryell Memorial Healthcare System hosted a groundbreaking ceremony to officially kick off construction for a major renovation and expansion project that will bring improvements to almost every part of it's healthcare system in Gatesville, TX.

Designed by Mike Hale Architects, Adolfson & Peterson Construction (AP) is serving as the construction manager for this project which includes approximately 117,000 square ft. of additions and renovations.

The hospital will remain fully operational during the project which will add the following components: operating rooms, materials management, new 25 bed hospital wing, administration offices, and a 16 bed rehabilitation wing to the Meadows Rehabilitation and Long-term Care, as well as a new central plant (chillers, boilers, etc.). Renovations include areas for pharmacy, lab, offices, and converting current hospital rooms into The Welcome Assisted Living rooms and some of the current Welcome rooms into Oaks Independent Living Apartments.

“This is a great moment for our organization and our mission as we strive to bring new services to Gatesville Texas,” said David Byrom, CEO of Coryell Memorial Healthcare System.  “It takes over 500 full and part-time individuals to support this system, and they are all a part of our team and mission as we continue to bring quality and patient-centered healthcare to Gatesville, Texas and the communities we serve.”

“This is an exciting day for the project team, and it is great to see this project get underway,” said Corbett Nichter, Senior Vice President with AP.  “Many hours have been poured into this project on the front-end to ensure that the design team, construction team and Coryell Memorial are aligned towards a common vision for this project.”

Construction is currently slated for completion in the second quarter of 2018.
