Summer is officially over and fall is coming to an end, which means winter is on the horizon. Before locking up your outdoor shed and heading inside until springtime, Bethel Feed & Supply Pet & Garden Center in Ohio recommends prepping your garden supplies for the cold weather ahead.

By following these steps, you’ll ensure all of your garden supplies will be ready to go once the snow and ice melts:

  • garden-supplies-Bethel-OHWash Tools: To remove all dirt and debris from your garden tools, take the garden hose and wash them thoroughly. This will keep your tools in pristine condition and save you the headache of cleaning them in the spring.
  • Store Seeds: If you have any leftover seeds lying around, close their original packets and place them in a large coffee can with a few spoonfuls of powdered milk. This will prevent moisture from ruining the seeds.
  • Seal Bags: Ensure your fertilizer, potting soil, and pesticides are all sealed up for wintertime. Failing to properly seal these items will cause them to clump up, cake together, and possibly even leak in your garden shed.
  • Hang It Up: Once you’ve washed everything and straightened up, hang your tools so they’re off of the ground, place pesticides out of harm’s reach, and lock up your shed.

If you need anything this fall while you’re closing down your shed, Bethel Feed & Supply Pet & Garden Center has all of the garden supplies you could possibly need. To speak with their representatives, call (513) 734-2246 or visit them online today.
