If you wear eyeglasses, those unsightly dents on the bridge of your nose may show it, even if you haven't worn them all day. Fortunately, while those indentations can be almost impossible to get rid of once they've formed, there are some things you can do to prevent them from taking residence again.

Dr. Ron Sealock, one of Dothan, AL's premier eye doctors, has some advice for eyeglass wearers prone to nasal bridge dents:

  • Adjust The Pads: If you wear wire-rim glasses with the little rubber pads, you may be able to adjust the angle to minimize red marks. Those types of nose pads are especially prone to causing discomfort, but pads that are too tight can make the problem significantly worse.
  • eye glassesGet Lighter Glasses: The weight of your glasses is another important factor in determining how much pressure is exerted on your skin. If your lenses are especially thick or your frames are thick and heavy, try switching them out for lighter materials, so they won't leave deep indentations along your nose. Many plastic frames, for example, distribute the weight more evenly, which can diminish the appearance of unsightly marks.
  • Switch To Contacts: Due to irregularities in the shape of their nose or extremely poor eyesight, which makes going without eyeglasses impossible, some people can't seem to avoid those red dents. If you've tried everything to no avail, speak with your eye doctor about switching to contact lenses. The discomfort most people associate with contacts fades over time while red dents sometimes seem like they'll last forever.
