Gone are the days when options for countertops were extremely limited. Today, there is a vast array of stunning choices spanning a rainbow of materials, colors, and textures. Since 2003, Rino’s Tile & Stone has served Anchorage, AK and with affordable and professional custom countertop installations.

Whether you’re seeking a new look in the kitchen or have always wanted an eye-catching island, consider the following different countertop selections:

Ceramic Tile

Considered to be one of the more traditional materials, ceramic tile continues to be a popular countertop option. From backsplashes to wet bars and sit-down counters, the tiles are available in solid colors and dazzling patterns. They can also be applied over existing plastic laminate countertops. Compared to other materials, the average cost for the tiles and installations tends to be cheaper.

Slate

Known for its density, slate generally comes in shades of black, gray, green, purple and red. The stone often has a matte appearance, is nonporous and requires very little maintenance. However, depending on the type of slate, scratches can nick the material. The good news is the marks can be buffed out using steel wool. The price of a slate countertop will generally depend on the stone’s fabrication.

Granite

This natural stone is available in available in wide range of colors – from black and white to reds, blues, browns and beautiful variations of each hue. For countertops, the stone is measured in long, thick slabs with few visible seams. A special sealer application makes the countertop resistant to stains. With proper treatment, the stone can last up to 15 years. Granite is considered more expensive because of its durability and fabrication.

Marble

A metamorphic rock with crystallized limestone features, marble is another favorite for kitchen islands and other light-duty surfaces. The natural stone’s color wheel runs the gamut from greens and pinks to blacks and whites. One of the benefits of marble is the material can be installed as slabs or tiles. The stone’s surface makes it a bit more vulnerable to heated items and knife nicks. Because of its long-term durability – with proper care – marble tends to be on the high end.

As the area’s leading fabricator and installer of countertops, Rino’s Tile & Stone specializes in providing a number of materials: granite, limestone, marble, quartz, soapstone, travertine, and much more!
