Event Information

With an aim to lift spirits in a colorful and natural way, Watanabe Floral, Inc. will be out on the streets of downtown Honolulu at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 19 giving away flowers to busy commuters. As a member of the Society of American Florists (SAF), the local flower shop is participating in the “Petal it Forward” program, an event to celebrate the release of research that shows the positive emotional effects of flowers.

An SAF-conducted survey done in March of 2015 shows just how potent a flower’s positivity can be for so many people. Of the 2,500 individuals surveyed across the United States, 88% reported that giving flowers made them feel happy, and 80% reported receiving flowers made them happy. Additionally, 76% of people said that simply being around flowers helped improve their mood. Another heartwarming statistic to come from the survey is that nearly four in ten Americans report that a florist has impacted their relationship, whether with the perfect group of flowers to accompany an “I love you,” or a surprise delivery.

floristThe new data—which supports similar research, such as a study done by Rutgers University—was the perfect spark for the “Petal it Forward” event. As a local florist with more than 60 years of experience, there’s no better flower shop than Watanabe Floral, Inc. to help spread some floral joy. “Petal it Forward” team members will be handing out more than 200 bouquets to Honolulu residents and will be providing each recipient with more flowers in hopes of brightening someone else’s day with an extra bouquet or two.

It doesn’t matter if it’s a romantic rose, aromatic lilac, colorful tulip, or another delightful flower, the positive impact of giving, receiving, or just being around a floral gift is impossible to deny. At 11:00 a.m. on October 19, Watanabe Floral, Inc. and SAF will be spreading that flowery joy to the people of Honolulu, but there’s plenty more where that’s coming from.

Any Honolulu resident looking for wedding flowers, flower delivery, floral arrangements, lei flowers, and more, can call Watanabe Floral, Inc. at (808) 832-9360 or visit the website for more information. Don’t forget to like them on Facebook for more upcoming events and the latest updates.
