Updated classics was the theme at the recent Charlotte AutoFair, attracting an estimated 150,000 buyers, collectors, and restorers to the bi-annual antique car show in Charlotte, NC. Attendees got an up-close look at more than 7,000 vintage vehicles at the popular event produced by Hornets Nest Region, AACA, for more than 35 years.

Hands down, one of the car show-stoppers was the pristine 1956 Lincoln Capri. This head-turning, hardtop coupe bathed in a bright-hued aqua charmed all who stopped to admire. With its subtle yet appealing lines and curves, how could it not?

The restored beauty—dropped about four inches for an even more dramatic effect—featured custom front and rear bumpers from the classic 1954 Lincoln and 1956 Packard, respectively. Polished chrome on the handmade front grill along with extended, customized skirts and trim were just a few of the stunning modifications. car showEach modernized touch was added without compromising the old-school integrity of the luxury Lincoln Capri.

A long, lingering peek inside revealed that all the bells and whistles were intact: the buttery softer interior, hand-built dashboard, and one-of-a-kind steering wheel. With a price tag of $68,500, it’s clear the Capri’s restorer produced a gem worth the investment.

Paired with its interior and exterior splendor is the muscle under the hood. From four-wheel disc brakes, air suspension, and rack and pinion steering to a 460 cid Ford V8 and a Ford C6 automatic transmission, there's no need to wonder if the vehicle is “for display only.” She’ll take you for an unforgettable cruise as you savor her aesthetic beauty.

In kicking off the official start of autumn, the Charlotte AutoFair was a collector’s paradise! In addition to classic cars for sale, the September weekend gathering featured automotive accessories, memorabilia, restoration supplies, tires, tools, vintage signs, wheels and more.
