Who doesn’t love fall? The hot summer temperatures start to mellow as the leaves begin their transformation into rich hues of gold, orange, red, and browns. Their presence soon to disappear leaving views we had forgotten since the spring.
(Here are some fun crafty things to do with those leaves!)
Today it is hard to reflect on fall. As I look out my window on this warm (still feels like summer) day the high is forecasted to be in the upper 80’s and humid. There are no signs of the green giving up it’s summer foliage. But just thinking about fall invites a warm feeling of things to come. Take a moment to close your eyes and think of fall. What imageries does your mind conjure up?
It’s a time for bonfires and football, boots and sweaters, warm drinks and crock-pot meals, and of course, everything pumpkin!
Now I am thinking I may have to pull out my calendar to schedule a few things…
Bonfires are always a great time, especially at my friend Matt’s house. I swear he saves up for a whole year to create a massive bonfire worthy of a visit from the local fire department. (He usually calls ahead to inform them before a passerby does!) It is a spectacular and impressive event perfect for gathering friends and family for some fun and laughter.
Fresh Season Favorites
I need to plot some fall flavored recipes using apples, squash, pumpkins, and cinnamon. Crock pot recipes provide the best aromatic greetings as you arrive home after a full day of work. One of my family’s favorites is pork chops with apples. Recently, I discovered this delicious looking recipe on Pinterest that puts in different spin, adding cranberries. It looks like that will be on my next “ClickList” at Kroger! (Here it is in case you would like to try it too.)
Then there is football…wait isn’t it still baseball season? Please don’t take away the culmination of the whole summer! I am a die-hard Red Sox fan, and they have a good chance of making it to the World Series again this year. Go Boston! Does anyone else feel like we should end one sport before we go into the next? Right?
Whatever sport you enjoy, kid’s soccer games, high school football, or the professional leagues, get out and enjoy the crisp feeling in the air wearing your favorite sweater that has been packed away, calling to you for six months.
The Fall Accessories
Hmm, unpack the winter clothes. This genuinely puts a smile on my face! I can’t wait to pull on my favorite Cape Cod sweatshirt from Cuffy’s.
As an “end of the season” buyer, it is similar to Christmas (did I say that word? So sorry, let’s stay in fall). I made acquisitions last year on sale that I have not worn yet and you can bet that I will be chilishly surprised at what I find. And of course they will be packed in with my old favorites: sweatshirts, sweaters, jackets, coats, boots (lots of boots), along with my hats, gloves, and scarves. I am particularly looking forward to donning my new scarf that my boss purchased for me while on vacation in Scotland.
Thank You Mary!
So whatever feelings FALL conjure up for you..
