Did you know not everything you eat is bad for your teeth? In fact, there are numerous foods that are perfect for improving the health and color of your smile. For example, cheese is an excellent food source for preventing tooth decay, and basil can help cut down on the bacteria in your mouth.

At Four Corners Dental Group, Alaska’s top family dentistry clinic, the dentists encourage their patients in Anchorage and Wasilla to eat healthy because what’s healthy for the body is usually healthy for the mouth as well. Adding more teeth healthy recipes, like this smoothie, to your diet will help to keep your smile bright for a long time and decrease the likelihood of requiring dental implants or dentures in the future:

Kaleberry Smoothie

Incorporate this recipe into your diet for numerous reasons. For one, the Greek yogurt is high in calcium and will help to rebuild and strengthen your teeth. Plus, tea of any kind is rich in antioxidants and nutrients, but combine green tea with blueberries—which contain more antioxidants than any other fruit—and your immune system will thank you.

Also, both of these ingredients contain polyphenols, which have been found to help control plaque and bacteria. Even though tea and blueberries contain pigments that could stain your teeth, strawberries are a natural whitener, thanks to the malic acid they contain.

  • Ice Cubes: 4
  • Frozen Blueberries: ½ cup
