Will the talented, friendly team at JD Painting & Decorating be paying a visit to your home or commercial space soon? If you have commissioned interior painting service through the celebrated renovation company, now is the time to start preparing. A few key steps are very necessary to ensure a streamlined painting project that does not involve splatters of paint on furniture and decor.

Review what to do prior to the arrival of the interior painting experts:

  • Take Out Furniture & Rugs: Remove as much furniture as possible from the room as well as all rugs. If some furniture is too heavy and cumbersome to be taken out of the room, move it to the center of the room. Drape the furniture with plastic or other protective coverings that will not leak onto the furniture in the event of paint spills.

  • Clean: Vacuum or sweep the room to eliminate dust and any other debris. Wipe down wooden baseboards with a clean rag. This avoids stirring up dust when the team at JD Painting & Decorating is working and prevents dust from sticking to newly painted walls.

  • exterior paintingUse Paper Or A Drop Cloth: Line the edges of the room with newspaper, or put down a drop cloth to catch spills. Large pieces of plastic also work.

  • Remove, Cover & Clean: Take all wall decor out of the room, and unscrew light switch covers from the walls. Cover outlets as well, and do not forget to give the walls a good cleaning. A bucket of water with a small amount of trisodium phosphate (TSP) is best. Wear gloves, and use a sponge to gently clean the walls.

  • Spackle Nail Holes & Sand Walls: Use the back of a hammer to remove any nails from the walls. Spackle the resulting holes with drywall joint compound, and lightly sand the walls once the compound is dry. Eliminate resulting dust with a tack cloth.
