At the Dental Clinic of Onalaska, one of Wisconsin’s best family dentist clinics, it takes a team to run the successful office. Julie Snyder is one of the staff making the operations run smoothly. After taking an 11-year hiatus from dental assisting, she has returned to the field as part of Dr. Mike Olsen’s team, and she describes her experience as a wonderful new chapter.

Julie’s day to day duties at the clinic involve assisting the dentist chairside, taking x-rays, and sterilization, among others. However, going beyond her immediate job description is also a characteristic of her work ethic. She helps other co-workers with their tasks and steps in for any task that will help the workday go by more smoothly. As she puts it, “the reason the clinic works so well is because everyone works as a team.”

dentistBeyond assisting the dentist, Julie’s main joy comes from interacting with the patients. Whether they are visiting for a routine checkup, teeth whitening services, or a more serious surgical procedure, Julie makes them comfortable and provides a calm atmosphere for them from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave.

Her friendliness and commitment to patients’ comfort have led them to, in turn, feel a particular affinity towards her. She recalls a recent incident, in which she became entangled in some wires while taking a patients’ x-rays, and almost fell over. He was more concerned about her than she was! But, true to her nature to put anyone at ease, she lightened the moment by joking that she was just performing a yoga move.

It’s moments like those that make her value her job, as well as the people she gets to be around each day. It’s no surprise, then, that one of her favorite things about the industry is its ability to help restore a beautiful smile.
