Kona Community Hospital and the American Cancer Society celebrated “Paint Your Workplace Purple” on July 7.  The celebration raised awareness for the American Cancer Society’s signature fundraising event, the Relay for Life. Purple-clad employees showed their support for the annual event by creatively decorating their departments in all things purple.

Additionally, employees and volunteers showed their support in the fight against cancer by generously raising funds for the Relay for Life event, which was held on July 9.  All proceeds benefit the work of the American Cancer Society, which helps to save lives from cancer by fighting back, finding cures, and helping people stay well and get well.

Relay for Life brings together friends, families, businesses, hospitals, schools, faith-based groups, and people from all walks of life to celebrate the lives of those who have had cancer, remember those who have been lost, and fight back against the disease. This year’s event was held at the Old Kona Airport Park. 25 participating teams did most of their fundraising prior to the event, but some will also hold creative fundraisers at the relay.
