When you’re faced with boxes of donuts at the office each day, eating healthy can feel impossible. However, it doesn’t have to be that way. The expert orthopedic doctors at IMUA Orthopedics, Sports & Health in Honolulu, Hawaii, provide the expert nutritional support and wellness coaching patients need to eat healthy and live well.

What you eat has a direct impact on the function of your body, as well as how you feel each day. To ensure that your body is receiving the nutrition it needs, be sure to consume plenty of these foods:

  • nutritionFruit: From berries to apples to pineapples, eat plenty of raw fruits. Avoid sugar-packed and processed fruit juices, which don’t contain the fiber or essential minerals real fruit offers. Fresh-pressed, natural juice with no added sugar is healthy and delicious in moderation. Pro tip: Drink your vegetables, too! Add some spinach and celery to your juice.
  • Vegetables: Spinach, broccoli, cabbage, and cauliflower are just a few of several vegetables that should be implemented in a healthy diet. You should consume between five and 13 servings of fruits and vegetables a day for optimal health.
  • Protein/Carbohydrates: This is where you indulge in your (preferably lean) meats, whole grains, and legumes. For meat, stick to healthy and tasty favorites like white turkey breast or fish. Eat small portions of nuts or raw almond butter. Feel energized by incorporating protein-packed lentils, black beans, or chickpeas into your diet. Always stick to whole grain bread, pasta, and nutrient-filled starches like sweet potatoes.

Rather than attempting a restrictive diet, start by incorporating more of these foods into your daily nutrition regimen. Once you start consuming enough fruits and veggies, you may be surprised to find how energized and well you’ll begin to feel.
