There's a lot to love about summer; warmer temperatures, longer days and more time along the beach. But sometimes the warmer temperatures can cause problems with your plumbing.
Oahu's Faster Rooter Plumbing is here to help you fix your plumbing problems and avoid those brought with the summer heat!
More outdoor fun means more dirty clothes. Be sure to check your washing machine hoses for bulges, leaks or cracks and be sure to remove drier lint regularly. Also, move your machine at least four inches from the wall to prevent hose kinking and damage, and never leave your home while the washer is running. Remember to replace your washing machine hoses approximately every three years.
The Summer Energy Bill
One way you can lower your energy bill is to turn down your water heater. This can lower your electric bill by as much as 10% per year.
Check Your Ductwork
In humid weather, your ductwork may sweat and create condensate. This can cause a backup if the drains are not clear. Leaks in the seams can also cause condensation. If there is water, call for help as it could save your ceiling.
Careful With That Kitchen Disposal!
Popular cookout foods don't tend to do too well in the normal kitchen disposal unit. Cornhusks, celery, banana peels and other fibrous or “stringy” foods can wreak havoc. Fats or cooking oils can cause clots in the pipes. Run cold water at full pressure for 15 seconds before and after you put anything down the disposal to flush it through. Never put instant stuffing, potato mixes or similar “just-add-water” foods down the drain—they'll create an instant clog when you add water!
As always, if none if these tricks don't work, ask your Oahu local professional at Fast Rooter Plumbing to help out!
