School’s out and the sun is shining, and that means it’s time for kids to get outside and work on boosting their fitness. That’s why Up and Running in Dayton is hosting the Fun in the Sun Kids Triathlon to get kids ages five to 14 up and active. Up and Running is Ohio’s favorite fitness apparel shop, but they do more than sell fitness apparel. They encourage the entire community—no matter how old or young—to embrace fitness in a fun, exciting way. The Fun in the Sun Kids Triathlon will be held at Kettering Rec. Center on June 26th with registration starting at 7:30 a.m.
Up and Running in Dayton makes sign-up easy. All you have to do is register your child online or stop in either one of the two Up and Running locations. If you register by June 17th, you’ll receive an early registration discount. Once you’re registered, stop by for early packet pickup on Saturday, June 25th from 2–5 p.m. at Up and Running in Dayton. If you can’t make it on the 25th, you’ll be able to pick up your child’s packet on race day. The first heat will start at 9 a.m., so be sure to arrive no later than 8:30 a.m.
The Fun in the Sun triathlon is designed to be an enjoyable experience for children of all fitness levels and ages. The race will be separated into three heats based on age group. Distances are adjusted for each age group, with five and six-year-olds swimming 50 meters, biking two kilometers, and running a half kilometer. The distances will increase by age, with 11–14-year olds completing a 200-meter swim, an 8K bike ride, and a 2K run.
A portion of the event’s proceeds will support Girls on the Run of Dayton, a fitness organization that encourages young girls to get out and be active. If you have any questions, email Susie or call Up and Running at (937) 432-9210. You can also visit their website to learn more about the event or to get a glimpse of their high-quality fitness apparel.
