Dr. Daman and her staff provide consultations to ensure every patient receives personalized care that addresses his or her specific skin concerns. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to scheduling skin treatments, but there are some general rules to keep in mind.

chemical face peelsSkin cells regenerate roughly every 30 days. Treatments such as chemical face peels and microdermabrasion help move the regeneration process along for clearer, more toned skin. Microdermabrasion, in particular, can be performed weekly or as infrequently as every eight weeks, depending on the condition of your skin and its tolerance for the procedure. Chemical face peels are typically performed monthly until you have achieved your desired result. Many patients then choose to transition to a three- or six-month schedule to maintain their look.

Patients who are interested in Botox and Restylane should schedule quarterly appointments to maintain a healthy, natural look. Your dermatologist many need to adjust the dosage during your first few sessions to help you achieve your desired outcome. Remember that the results from these treatments are temporary. It may be tempting to schedule more frequent sessions as you see the results fade over time, but doing so can result in injury or illness from exposure to too much of the injectable, as well as an unnatural appearance.

Your dermatologist may recommend changes to this skin care regimen based on your skin’s condition. For example, patients with acne-prone skin may want to schedule treatments at 14-day intervals until breakouts are under control, at which point they can extend the time between treatments. Seasonal conditions like cold, dry air in the winter, and heat, humidity, and air conditioning in the summer can all impact your skin’s appearance. Your dermatologist may recommend adjusting your treatment types and frequency in response to these environmental factors.
