  • You’ve Entered Menopause Age: In the United States, the average women enters menopause at age 51. However, menopause can begin anywhere between age 40 and 60, or earlier if a women’s ovaries have been surgically removed.
  • Your Menstrual Cycle is Changing: If you’ve noticed your menstrual cycle changing over the past several months or even years, you may be in the “menopausal transition” stage. Less frequent, skipped, or shorter periods could indicate menopause is approaching.

  • Hormonal Changes: Menopause causes a women’s reproductive ability to stop, which causes various hormonal changes as your ovaries stop producing estrogen. Vaginal dryness is a common symptom of menopause.
  • Frequent Urination & Urinary Incontinence: Some menopausal women feel the need to urinate more frequently than before. Additionally, menopause can cause the tissues of the vagina and urethra to lose their elasticity, causing urinary incontinence.
  • Depression: Another common complaint among menopausal women is depression, mood swings, and irritability. Hormonal fluctuations are mainly to blame, but it’s always a good idea to talk with your doctor if you’re feeling down.
