Around the country, health care professionals selflessly serve their communities, healing the sick and providing a positive, helpful atmosphere to all of their patients. Their loyal dedication to improving the lives of those in their community deserves to be recognized, and National Hospital Week aims to celebrate the hard work of all hospital staff members in facilities throughout the U.S. Kona Community Hospital, a full-service acute care hospital located in Kealakekua, HI, will be honoring their staff with weeklong festivities to show their appreciation.

Beginning on Sunday, May 8 and continuing until Saturday, May 14, National Hospital Week will be celebrated at various hospitals throughout the country. Its aim is to make all hospital employees, including doctors, nurses, food service works, volunteers, administrative personnel, and more, feel appreciated. Kona Community Hospital, which has served West Hawaii for over 100 years, will start its festivities on May 9, providing complementary coffee to its dedicated staff in the morning. Their celebration of National Hospital Week will continue with three prize drawings throughout the week, with officials pulling employee names at random, and an ice cream social, offering sweet treats to hospital workers in the afternoon and evening. The event-filled week will end on Friday, May 13 with a special ceremony — the 2016 KCH Awards Celebration. At this luncheon, select employees will receive awards to commemorate significant milestones and years of loyal service.

Celebrate the dedicated service of all hospital workers and volunteers during 2016’s National Hospital Week. With over 500 employees in health care and services and other areas of support, Kona Community Hospital has a large dedicated staff worthy of thanks and celebration.
