Jack Pots Portables Explains How Many People a Porta Potty Will Service, Lake Havasu City, Arizona

Whether you are planning a construction site or an outdoor event, having the correct facilities to accommodate the staff and guests is important. How many people will a porta potty service? Lake Havasu City, AZ’s Jack Pots Portables is here to explain how to figure out how many porta potties you will need for your next event.

According to the standards from the Portable Sanitation Association International, one porta potty unit will provide about 200 uses. Based on that standard, estimate the number of hours you will require a portable toilet. Try to pad the time just in case the event goes longer. Next, determine the number of people expected to attend, again adding a cushion in case more show up. From there, you can estimate how many portable toilets you would need using the following general rules:

  • Worksites: For outdoor work sites and construction projects that require a portable toilet rental, one restroom can accommodate about 10 workers for a typical 40-hour work week. For more than 10 workers, add a second porta potty.
  • Events: A good starting point is 50 people from one to four hours. Generally, one porta potty is sufficient. After five hours, add a second. For every 50 additional guests, add another portable toilet.
  • Longer, Bigger Events: For events lasting many hours or days as well as events starting at 1,000 guests for at least one hour, such as concerts, more units will be necessary. Begin with four or five porta potties, and increase by one or two more for every hour of the event. Every guest will use the facilities at least once every three to four hours.

  • Alcohol: Alcohol consumption will change your numbers drastically, so if alcohol will be served, modify your numbers for the increase in facility usage. People will use the porta potty 30-40% more when liquor is involved.
  • Persons With Disabilities: Don’t forget about a portable toilet rental for guests with disabilities. Check with the rental place about facilities designed for this purpose.
