This is an exciting year, marking the 40th anniversary of National Volunteer Week, founded in 1976 by President Richard Nixon to encourage community efforts around the nation. As a leading full-care hospital with 94 beds and 24-hour emergency services, Kona Hospital knows how important it is to not only serve their community, but also to give back to the people they love and heal. As friendly West Hawaii residents join together to build homes, feed the hungry, educate the poor, and lift up the elderly, they know they are making a difference in many lives and creating a positive atmosphere for everyone.

As the week draws near, Kona Community Hospital encourages residents to reach out and do what they can to assist one another. Volunteerism can be as simple as visiting the sick or elderly in the hospital as they undergo rehabilitation, or donating food to our local food bank. No matter how big or small volunteerism is, the gratitude of the recipient of generosity is always grand. This is something Kona Community Hospital knows all too well.

As Kona Hospital prepares to highlight the many wonderful community members who make a difference for their neighbors and the world, they also want to remind residents of the quality health care they can entrust to this experienced medical facility. With 24-hour emergency services for quality care, patients trust this hospital and their warm, friendly staff for a variety of needs. From their weight loss and heartburn programs to rehabilitation after surgery, Kona Community Hospital is there to keep area residents and visitors healthy and thriving. Quality medical service and quality patient care makes Kona Community Hospital stand out from the rest.
