Eating well is only part of the battle when it comes to successful and lasting weight loss. Physical activity will help you get closer to reaching your goal by building muscle and burning more calories. By increasing your muscle mass, your body burns more calories. This means that by replacing fat with muscle, you increase your metabolism even when resting. That is why people with higher muscle to fat ratio can “cheat” here and there and see not effects. Weight loss is not as simple as originally believed. Eat less and move more does not always work and there are many other factors which play a major role. It is important to look at chronic stress levels and sleep quality. If we are stressed, it can affect leptin and ghrelin levels (hunger hormones) and therefore slow down the weight loss. If we are sleep deprived it can negatively effect cortisol levels and insulin resistance. So, you should be getting at least seven hours of quality sleep per night and reducing stress. 

Exercise improves sleep quality and allows you to get a better quality sleep. Research has shown that just exercise alone does not necessarily lead to weight loss. What works by far the best is exercise combined with proper diet and adequate sleep.

At Cheetahfit Training and Massage Center we know through scientific research and years of training experience that doing high-intensity circuits and cardio classes is not always the most effective approach. We have measured the body fat of clients which refused to quit these classes. Through body fat analysis, we show them that the body fat is often in the obese category and actually increasing though they have attended the classes multiple times per week for years.
